Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Policy
It is the policy of Nebraska Aluminum Castings Inc. to protect the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the public and to conduct all activities in an environmentally responsible manner.
- All contact waste water is processed through a Thermal Oxidizer and evaporated. No-contact waste water is discharged to the sanitary sewer.
- Recycling is encouraged to reduce the amount of waste in landfills. All aluminum dross and chips are returned to the smelter for recycling. Containers are provided for recycling of cardboard, wood, scrap metal, plastics, glass, and paper.
- Monthly employee meetings are held to keep all employees aware of topics of environmental health and safety issues.
- No hazardous waste is generated by NAC's manufacturing processes.
- NAC strives to maintain a low rate of injuries and accidents by monitoring and correcting hazards within the workplace.
- Robotics has been implemented throughout the die cast shop to eliminate the danger of extracting hot parts from die cast machines.
- Energy consumption is being addressed through the use of energy efficient aluminum holding and melting furnaces as well as energy efficient plant lighting. Energy usage is tracked monthly and trends evaluated.
- Continuous improvement is addressed through periodic plant safety inspections and recommendations by Loss Control Managers of our insurance providers.
- Risks are addressed through continuous video recording of certain areas, both inside the facility and outside. Motion detection sensors are used when buildings are unattended.
- NAC maintains a high standard of housekeeping. Regular floor care and housekeeping is an integral part of this process.
- NAC established it's Wellness Committee in 2016. Events are planned and communicated to all employees. Wellness benefit and reward programs have been implemented.
Nebraska Aluminum Castings Inc. takes pride in all aspects of our business and will audit this policy periodically to continually improve our processes.
